Pneumatic Groundwater Sampling Pump

Stass Environmental have developed a pneumatic groundwater sampling pump designed specifically for use in the monitoring of groundwater quality at contaminated sites or for pollution plume monitoring at industrial sites.

This sampling pump is a unique pneumatic system which can be used for the sampling of hydrocarbon impacted groundwater and groundwater pollution caused by inorganic contaminants. The pump system design allows for the adjustment of the pump function to prevent air contact with the sample.

Summary of Pump Specifications:

Size: External diameter - 40 mm maximum, overall length - 1.5m

Pumping rates: Can be adjusted from 0.1 L/min to 6 L/min. This rate can be increased up to 30 L/min in larger diameter bores by using high volume pumps (pump 1 in above photograph).

Working Depths: The pump can operate to depths of 60 metres below ground surface.

Construction materials: PVC for down hole equipment. Some brass connector components, (or stainless steel, if required). On the surface - automated pneumatic switching device (under copyright protection) and 1.5 to 2 HP electric air compressor. Petrol compressors can also be supplied at extra cost. Electric compressors are more adaptable to work in service stations and industrial environments etc, and work well with portable generators.

Piping: LDPE, transparent, flexible pipes - 50 m on each reel. Water delivery (16 mm diameter), air supply ( 9 mm diameter) and a 50 m safety cable winch.
